As a Girl Scouts robotics team, our mission is to get young girls more involved in the STEM community, within and beyond FIRST.

Team Goals & Contributions

To get this season started, we set ambitious goals to work toward while continuing to give back to our community.

Robot Development

Create a functional robot for Meets 1 and 2, then deliver an improved, competition-ready robot for Meet 3 and the qualifier.

Documentation

Build a strong portfolio and engineering notebook that documents our design process and what we learned throughout the season.

Community

Continue FLL mentoring, STEM club at the library, and Girl Scout STEM camp participation; paying it forward to the younger teams we now mentor.

Our FRC Team

VOLT · FRC 11195

Our students now compete at the FRC level as VOLT, the all-girls rookie team built from Gear Girls and P3 Robotics — completing the pathway from FLL to FTC to FRC. In their rookie season, VOLT won the Rookie All Star and Judges' Awards.

What is FTC?

FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build dynamic robots to compete in an exciting game released every September. On and off the field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, practice engineering innovation, and build confidence to help them succeed.

Are you taking new members?

Yes, and always yes! We are more than happy to welcome a new member as long as they have the motivation and interest in taking part in FTC.

Do I need robotics experience?

Not at all! Our team welcomes members with a variety of backgrounds and skills. Whether you're into engineering, programming, marketing, or just eager to learn, there's a place for you on Gear Girls.
